I am Number Four – Anatomy of a Gecko

Shade teamed up with Dreamworks and director D.J. Caruso to provide 156 visual effects shots for “I Am Number Four”. The diverse team of artists at shade provided a wide array of effects from photo-real characters to hard surface and energy weapons, set extensions, explosions and fire.

Working closely with Dreamworks FX Supervisor Greg McMurry, Bryan Godwin and the team at shade had the opportunity to contribute heavily to the look and feel of all of the energy weapons used in the film. “Designing Number Six’s lasers was a great experience. The team had a lot of fun coming up with a signature look and feel to both her weapons as well as the Mogadorians”, noted Godwin.

Shade really shows how well rounded the team is with its all cg, photo-real lizard, a mysterious character that reveals its true importance throughout the film.
